Dr. Dipali Apte is a licensed physician and surgeon specializing in ophthalmology and an expert in the treatment of glaucoma, being the first fellowship-trained subspecialist to make her home in our community. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. After completing two Bachelor's degrees, in Bioengineering and Philosophy, at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Dr. Apte went on to earn her Ph.D. in BIophysics and an M.D. at the same University. She then completed a prestigious residency at Duke University and fellowship training in glaucoma at the renown Washington University Eye Center. Having engaged in extensive research in the past, Dr. Apte's endeavors have led to several scientific publications; her poetry even has been published. Dr. Apte has over 15 years of experience in state-of-the-art clinical and surgical ophthalmology.
When not taking care of patients, Dr. Apte enjoys travelling, rowing, Feldenkrais, flowers, gardening and cooking. Dr. Apte is most excited to return to California and enjoy living here in our community with her husband, Vishwas.
Dr. Michael Mizoguchi is a licensed medical doctor and ophthalmologist, and Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Mizoguchi received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Southern California. He obtained his Medical Doctorate degree also from USC, and completed his Internship and Residency training at the University of California, Davis, Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Science. He holds several publications in the ophthalmic medical literature that stemmed from research conducted at both at the renown Doheny Eye Institute at USC and at the
UC Davis Department of Ophthalmology. Dr. Mizoguchi is currently also serving as Chair of the Department of Surgery at Redwood Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Mizoguchi loves practicing in Humboldt, where he lives with his wife Amy, daughter Sophia, and son Alexander.
